Stuart Wilcox – Director
Hobart Manufacturing (UK) Ltd, Barnstaple Manufacturing Facilities Manager
Stuart recently joined the Board of Directors for GTD Ltd and wants to be able to impart experience, knowledge and time to GTD and future Apprentices.
Stuart began his career at Shapland & Petter Ltd (later Leaderflush & Shapland Ltd) Barnstaple in 1988, where he successfully completed a 4-year Modern Apprenticeship as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, through GTD Ltd. He was later promoted to Maintenance Co-Ordinator, assisting in the running of a busy Maintenance Department and looking after the Engineering Apprentices.
In 2006 he became Production Engineering Manager working on manufacturing process improvements, and had the opportunity to travel around Europe sourcing, purchasing and installing new Machinery for the Barnstaple Site.
2009 brought a new direction for Stuart, where he was given the chance to join Atlas Packaging Ltd as Quality Manager. This allowed him to gain experience in a high speed, high volume production facility and learn about Quality Systems and processes, also working very closely with customers.
Stuart joined Hobart Manufacturing UK Ltd in 2013 as Manufacturing Facilities Manager. This gave him the opportunity to get back to his roots in Maintenance Engineering, which is what he enjoys the most. Using all the skills and experience he has gained since starting as an apprentice through GTD over 28 years ago, he currently looks after Site and Plant Maintenance, Health & Safety, Apprentice Training, Environmental, IT systems, Gauge and Tooling Calibration on site.
Hobart UK Ltd is a renowned market leader in commercial catering equipment, manufacturing cooking equipment – under the Bonnet brand – Warewashers – and food preparation machines for the foodservice industry.
