Anne Sutton – Chair

Anne has been involved with GTD since joining TDK-Lambda UK in September 2014. In her current role as Training and Development Officer she has been involved in promoting, recruiting and training of apprentices within the company and has worked closely with GTD mentors during that time to support her students learning. This experience prompted Anne to join the board in November 2017 with a view to being able to work more closely with GTD to promote the value of engineering apprenticeships more widely in the local area.

Since joining TDK-Lambda UK, she has focused heavily on promoting the company and STEM careers in the local community, worked as a STEM Ambassador supporting schools and colleges at careers events and with local businesses and STEM support groups looking at ways to retain local talent in the area. She has promoted the idea of apprenticeship routes into local careers and shared the many opportunities that exist for young people in the North Devon area.

She brings 28 years of training and development experience from a variety of positions. After completing her Batchelor of Education Degree she started a teaching career in South Devon before eventually transferring into a Training and Development role with Tesco where she held positions as a Training Manager, Customer Service Manager and finally HR Manager. Leaving Tesco in 2005 she then used her HR Management and Training experience to support the growth and development of a local children’s nursery working as part of a management team to double the size of the business before joining TDK-Lambda UK in 2014.

Although new to the field of engineering she has enjoyed developing her own understanding of the wide range of engineering careers on offer and while she has always been involved in co ordinating and managing training to deliver business objectives and supporting individuals career growth through apprenticeships, she is now looking forward to using this experience within an engineering field.

TDK-Lambda UK, a group company of TDK Corporation, was established in London England in 1959 as Coutant Electronics. Today TDK-Lambda UK is Britain’s largest designer and manufacturer of both standard and configurable AC-DC and DC-DC power supplies.

The Ilfracombe site opened in 1966 and serves as the European Head Office and Manufacturing centre, employing about 300 people, involved in R&D, manufacturing and associated support activities.
