Steve joined the GTD Ltd Board of Directors in December 2015, and amongst other roles, provides valued input for the group’s IT and website support, as well as managing its Social Media profile. He began his engineering career at Tyco Electronics Ltd, Bideford in 2001, where he completed a 4-year Advanced Modern Apprenticeship in Performing Engineering Operations. On completion of his apprenticeship he was promoted to Production Engineer in the Electroplating Department, with day-to-day responsibility for supervision of the chemical laboratory, purchasing and stock control, managing the water treatment plant and continuous improvement activities.

Steve soon realised that his strengths lie in Health & Safety, and in 2008 he attained a NEBOSH qualification and was promoted to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator – overseeing the Tyco site’s environmental responsibilities and looking after the health, safety and wellbeing of over 300 employees.

In 2014 he joined Greenfield Engineering Ltd based in Holsworthy and now holds the position of EHS and Training Manager for this prestigious precision sheet metal engineering company.

Group Training and Development
Group Training and Development (GTD) Limited was established more than 40 years ago by a number of like-minded manufacturing companies in North Devon. It was created with the vision of promoting and advancing the provision of Apprenticeships in this area, primarily within Engineering, and to provide support to local employers and their trainees in the form of Apprenticeship Training.
