About our Apprenticeships

Progress through an apprenticeship

  1. Guidance and advice on engineering apprenticeship from GTD.
  2. Complete GTD application form.
  3. Submit application form to GTD.
  4. GTD sifts and matches applications to vacancies in group members.
  5. Applications sent to group members.
  6. Group members carry out interview of applicants.
  7. Group members offer job to applicant.
  8. Unsuccessful applicants sorted and sent back out to other members.
  9. All new applicants start in employment.
  10. Induction and diagnostic training take place.
  11. Apprentices registered with LSC.
  12. Apprentices registered with college for technical certificate i.e. National Certificate or City and Guilds.
  13. Apprentices registered with EMTA awards for key skills, and PEO level 2.
  14. Apprentices attend day release one day per week for technical certificates until completed.
  15. Monthly assessment visits take place in company to check progress. (Assessor).
  16. Quarterly monitoring visits take place to check progress and welfare of apprentice. (Training manager).
  17. Once key skills/PEO completed NVQ 3 in specific area is chosen and registered.
  18. All qualifications assessed and verified by assessor and training manager of GTD.
  19. NVQ III completed.
  20. Apprentice complete with either advanced engineering apprenticeship or engineering apprenticeship.
